Warnings/Reminders

• Remove the plug from either the left or right timing access holes before installation.
• To install, hand tighten the J-42083 Automatic Timing Pin Lock into the timing access hole.
• Preload the spring on the automatic timing lock by pushing the slide handle forward and turning it clockwise to engage one of the two locking slots.
• Manually turn the engine in the direction of rotation (usually counterclockwise) until you hear a clear “click” indicating engagement of the flywheel timing holes.
• The plunger is now engaged at TDC; to remove, turn the slide handle counterclockwise to release the spring tension and slide out the plunger. If it resists retracting, jog the flywheel slightly and try again.
• Unscrew from the flywheel housing after completion of work.
• Color and dimension notes: color may vary due to lighting; minor size differences may occur due to manual measurement.
